Why does macOS say it cannot verify Frame?

Frame is not notarised by Apple yet, so macOS blocks the first launch. Click Done, then open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. You only do this once per version.

Which Macs does it run on?

Apple silicon Macs (M1 and newer) running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. An Intel build is not available yet.

Does Frame record my screen?

No. macOS files still screenshots under the Screen & System Audio Recording permission, so Frame asks for it. Frame never records video or audio, and it only captures when you ask.

Where do my screenshots go?

Your library and search index stay in your user Library on your Mac. Exported copies save to a folder you pick in Settings, as PNG or JPEG. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Will it clash with the built-in macOS shortcuts?

No. Frame's defaults use Control, Option and Command together, so Apple's own screenshot shortcuts keep working. You can rebind any Frame shortcut in Settings.

Can it capture a page that scrolls?

Yes. Scrolling capture stitches frames as you scroll any app. Full web page capture loads a URL in its own browser and saves pages as tall as 24,000 pixels.

Pull the Text out of Any Image

Right-click a capture in the library to copy its recognised text or its QR code contents. QR links copy as text and never open by themselves.

Turn a Long Scroll into a Single Image

Scroll half a screen, press ⌃⌥⌘6, repeat. Frame matches the overlapping pixels, stitches the frames together and rejects any frame that does not line up.

3Allow Screen RecordingSwitch Frame on under Screen & System Audio Recording, then quit and reopen it. macOS files still screenshots under this permission. Frame never records video or audio.
